The Diamond Mine Academy Organization is an established 501(c)(3) dedicated to empowering marginalized Africans, including LGBTQ individuals, by providing a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.
The Diamond Mine Project: African Refugee Resettlement Program was launched in response to the Kenyan Government's 2023 announcement that it would no longer provide refuge to LGBTQ Africans. This decision blocked these individuals from working with the UNHCR and other organizations, such as the Rainbow Railroad, to resettle in welcoming countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Abba Henry is a refugee and asylum seeker residing in Africa, where he is actively involved in leading the Diamond Mine Project and Academy.
This initiative is dedicated to addressing the numerous challenges encountered by the refugee community as a result of the Ugandan government's Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2023.
The situation in Kenya has worsened, particularly for the thousands of LGBTQ East African refugees still trapped in the country. Kenya, once the only African nation accepting LGBTQ refugees, has now become a hostile environment, forcing many to go underground.
The New Challenge: How do we protect and support the thousands of LGBTQ East African refugees stuck in a country that no longer wants them? It’s dangerous for LGBTQ refugees to live illegally in Kenya.
Disturbing video footage has shown Kenyan police arresting and deporting LGBTQ Ugandans back to Uganda, where they face extreme danger.
Tragically, those deported back to Uganda have reportedly disappeared without a trace.
At Diamond Mine Academy, we work tirelessly to support at-risk LGBTQ individuals facing life-threatening situations. In times of crisis, we need rapid-response funding to ensure immediate safety, legal assistance, emergency relocation, and critical aid.
Why This Matters.
Crisis situations can arise without warning—whether it’s an arrest, an attack, or an urgent need for relocation. When lives are on the line, we must act fast. Your immediate contribution can make the difference between life and death.
Our previous payment processor, Helcim, unexpectedly closed our account despite our long-standing, issue-free relationship.
While we can’t be certain, we believe this is a result of the MAGA Trump Administration’s trade war with Canada, forcing Canadian businesses like Helcim to cut ties with U.S.-based organizations to protect themselves from potential losses.
This is not due to any wrongdoing on our part—we are actively working on a long-term solution. In the meantime, we appreciate your support through Venmo or mailed checks to ensure our vital work continues.

At Diamond Mine Academy, we remain committed to our mission of empowerment, education, and transformation. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are facing temporary challenges with our credit card processing.
Our previous payment processor, Helcim, a Canadian-based company, unexpectedly closed our account without warning, despite our long-standing relationship with no history of issues, chargebacks, or complaints.
While we cannot say with absolute certainty, we strongly believe this is a consequence of the MAGA Trump Administration’s ongoing trade war with Canada, causing Canadian businesses like Helcim to protect themselves from potential losses by severing ties with U.S.-based organizations.
This is NOT due to any wrongdoing on our part—we are actively working to find a long-term solution.
In the meantime, we ask for your patience and support through the following contribution methods:

In response to these challenges, we’ve adapted by creating a "micro-funding" initiative to provide financial independence to our LGBTQ East African brothers and sisters.
What is Micro-funding? Micro-funding, or micro-lending, is a type of funding provided to self-employed individuals and small business owners by other individuals, rather than traditional banks. These programs offer smaller amounts of money along with mentoring and training. The funds can come from a single person or be pooled from multiple contributors.
Originally, Abba Henry envisioned building a protected compound in Kenya for all marginalized East African refugees. The goal was to create a safe, supportive environment where vulnerable Africans could reach their full potential and develop the skills needed for success in the digital world.
However, due to the increasingly toxic environment, we have shifted our approach to focus on underground micro-funding initiatives that meet the current needs
Imagine you’re a partner in a major accounting firm and want to create a micro funding campaign to sponsor 1,000 young LGBTQ African accounting professionals.
Consider how this could raise the vibrational frequency in your firm, with 1,000 brilliant LGBTQ plus Allies coaching, teaching, and mentoring East African refugees.
